Magen Niece: Intergenerational Minister of Education
What do you do at Main Street?
I work with children and families here at Main Street. I am the Minister of Intergenerational Education. Each week I work with volunteers and leaders in the children’s ministry department. I am privileged to divide my time between visiting families, working to staff the children’s area with volunteers and helping to fill the needs of the leaders for Elevate, Kid’s Avenue and Awana.

Tell me about your family?
All of my family has been in Northern Kentucky most of my life, but now we all are starting to spread out a little. I am the second oldest of four children. My older sister lives in Independence, KY. My younger sister lives in Dover, DE. My younger brother lives in Burlington with my mom and goes to Camp Ernst middle school. My dad and step-mom live in Cincinnati. I have grandparents that live in independence and I enjoy spending time with them whenever I get the chance.

What is your background?
My ministry experience comes from Burlington Baptist Church where I was heavily involved in children and youth programs. During my high school years I served an 18 month long internship with the youth pastor, I helped organize and develop back yard Bible club for the children while also working with the middle school girl’s class and co-writing material for that class. I helped develop summer programs for the youth ministry which included a summer concert series, organizing bible studies and camp registration. I also have been involved in mission trips across the United States with the organization World Changers. It was through these experiences that I learned how important it was to be involved in the community around you. It helped build a desire in me to be involved in as many aspects of my church and community that is manageable.

I graduated from Ryle High school in 2003; from there I left to attend Georgetown College. I immediately became very involved on campus. My first year at Georgetown, I worked with a revival team that was responsible for leading worship for churches. We would lead in music, interpretive movements, and short skits. We also traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to host a discipleship weekend for youth.

During my sophomore year I was elected class secretary for the Student Government Association. I also became a member of Kappa Delta Sorority were I served as Vice President of Standards. I served as chair person for the sorority’s national philanthropy, Prevent Child Abuse America for two years. I provided encouragement and support to the chapter as we raised money for the organization and we were able to increase our yearly contribution to five times more than the years past. I was involved in campus ministries outreach team, which was a team that worked to reach the students of Georgetown College. We showed God’s love by supporting students at sporting events or putting letters of encouragement in their mail boxes.

I earned my degree in psychology in 2007, moved back to Burlington and continued to work at Kroger Pharmacy, that’s when God lead me to Main Street. I plan to continue my education and to earn a master’s degree in Biblical counseling.

What do you love best about Main Street?
The people, this congregation is the most accepting and encouraging group of people I have ever seen. I think it’s great that the people are so involved and interested in one another’s lives. It’s obvious that the people at Main Street care about each other.

What do you like to do in your free time?
